Everdisk plays your media on the device and shares your whole photo and music library over the network. This page covers the Photos and Music modes of the Documents tab, the media players, and the quality settings that control how photos and videos are shared.

Share your whole photo and music library

On the Sharing screen, under What to Share, you can turn on Allow access to all Photos Library and Allow access to all Music Library. Once sharing starts, every album and track becomes available over all four servers - on a TV, in a browser, on a network drive, or in a file app. You can also hand-pick only certain photos, videos or tracks with Add Photos and Add Tracks.

Protected (DRM) songs and tracks stored only in the cloud can’t be shared.

Play audio in the mini player

When you tap an audio file - from your Documents, a connected folder, your Music library, or a server on the Devices tab - it plays in the mini player that stays at the bottom of the screen as you move around the app.

• The bar shows artwork, the title and subtitle, and play/pause and next controls.
• Tap or swipe up on the bar to expand to the full player; swipe down to shrink it again while audio keeps playing.
• Tap and hold the bar to open the queue, where you can see all tracks, turn on Shuffle, set Repeat (off, all or one), or Stop.
• Playback also appears on the lock screen and with the media keys, showing the real title, artist and album.

Tapping one audio file in a folder plays the whole folder’s audio as a queue.

Watch video full screen

Tap a video to play it full screen. Everdisk uses the built-in system video player, so you get the standard controls, including AirPlay, Picture in Picture and playback speed. Video plays from local files, connected folders and servers you stream from. Starting a video stops any audio in the mini player so the two don’t overlap.

View photos

• In the Documents tab → Photos mode, you can browse your shared photos and videos.
• Tapping a photo opens the system preview, where you can zoom, swipe and share.
• In a web browser, photos open in a full-screen gallery with swipe, pinch-to-zoom and a slideshow button.
• On a TV, photos appear with preview thumbnails over DLNA.

Photos and videos that have location data show a map with a pin on their Info screen.

Send media to a TV

To show media on a TV, use the TV & Media Center (DLNA) server: start sharing, then pick your device on the TV and browse. The TV pulls the media from your device - see Connect Your Devices. (Everdisk does not use Chromecast; AirPlay is available from the full-screen video player.)

Original vs. compatible quality

When you share photos and videos, Everdisk can send them exactly as they are, or convert them so older TVs and browsers can open them. You set this in Settings → Sharing:

• Photos → Format (Original or Most Compatible / JPEG) and Quality (Original, High, Medium, Low).
• Videos → Format (Original or Most Compatible / H.264 MP4) and Quality.

Keep in mind:

• Original is the fastest - the file is sent as-is with no conversion.
• Any other setting converts on the fly, which is slower and uses more battery, especially over WebDAV and FTP.
• Try Original first; only switch to Most Compatible if a specific TV or browser can’t open a file.
• Music is always shared in its original form - there are no music quality settings.

Photo and video conversion is a Premium feature; Original quality is always available for free.
